History of Meditation & Origins of Gold Coast Meditation
The history of meditation goes far beyond the known or written history of mankind. According to some archaeologists, a figurine of a yogi found in the Indus Valley Civilisation may indicate that yoga practices could have existed in the first Indian civilisations. Ever since these times, yoga and other popular forms of meditation have been important practices in Hinduism.
Of these meditation methods, Yoga, Kundalini, and Transcendental Meditation have come from within Hinduism. Sufi is originally from Islam, and the rest have been introduced by Buddhism. The history of each religion above is a long one, as well as the history of meditation within each of them. Different forms of meditation are also present in Judaism, Christianity and Jainism too, but they are not so widely practiced or taught as in Hinduism, Buddhism & Islam.
